Steel-framed doors
Door and frame in steel and glass

Steel doors
A steel door with glass separates two rooms without holding back the light. The thin profile draws a line through the interior, and the glass keeps the room behind it in view.
Principles
A steel door is both a passage and a wall. It determines how two rooms relate to each other: open and connected, or separated while keeping sight and light.
The division of the profile, the choice of glass and the way the door swings are decided per opening. We look at the size of the opening, the floor and the wall around it, and how both rooms are used.
Glass in a slender profile lets daylight further into the home.
Glazing bars, side panels and transoms set the rhythm of the surface.
Clear, tinted or textured, depending on how much view is wanted.
The colour of the steel is matched to the hardware and the interior.
The floor, wall and ceiling around the opening are coordinated in advance.
Every door is made to the size of the opening it goes into.

Coherence
A steel door rarely stands on its own. The pivot of a pivot door is set into the floor, a frame meets the wall, and the line of the steel continues through the rest of the interior.
Because we also finish floors and walls, we coordinate those junctions in one plan: the height of the floor build-up, the reveal of the wall and the point where the steel meets the floor.

Showroom
Colour, texture and the feel of a material only come through when you see and touch a surface in person.
