Penthouse in Rotterdam with a dark poured floor and a metallic wall finish

Project

Penthouse Rotterdam

Impression, for illustration

About this project

A dark poured floor with a low sheen, combined with a metallic wall finish that takes in the city light and shifts through the day.

The starting point was an interior that relates to the view rather than competing with it. The floor is therefore dark, in a graphite tone with a matte finish that limits reflection and makes the glazing visually calmer.

Two wall surfaces have a metallic finish. The pigment sits in the top layer and responds to the direction of the light: by day the surface stays restrained, in the evening its depth comes forward.

Because this is a high-rise apartment, the entire build-up was assessed for weight and sound transmission. The floor sits on a separate insulation layer with a measured impact sound reduction as specified by the supplier.
